Correct Your Posture With These Three Easy Exercises

Three minutes and three simple exercises are all it takes to improve your posture, and this video shows you all of them. Considering how many of us sit in front of screens or keyboards all day, just taking a few minutes off can be beneficial. All you need to do this is a wall.

The YouTuber rekrain video is short, but the three exercises are simple and good to do too (yes, I tried them myself).

First, find the nearest wall and stand with your back to it. Pull your chin up to your chest and lean back so that the back of your head touches the wall. Don’t raise your head yet. rekrain notes that if your posture is such that you cannot tilt your head back completely, take a pillow to place it between the back of your head and the wall. You are now in the right position. Here are the exercises:

  • With your head still raised, swing your hands with your palms down at your sides to just above your shoulders. Do this about ten times.
  • With your head still bowed, palms facing down, raise your arms above shoulder level, then bend your elbows and place your hands on your ears. Do this about ten times.
  • Without removing your head, extend one hand above you and pull it down, while doing the same with the other hand. Think “climbing an invisible ladder” and you will succeed. Do this about ten times.

If exercise corrects your posture obviously depends on what state your back is actually in, but for people who work at a computer all day, they can be a huge help in correcting the pain and achiness that comes with poor posture. … When I did them after sitting for a long time, I definitely felt better. It seemed to me that my back and neck were well stretched, I could not just sit at the table, and that was not bad.
