ITunes-Remote Controls ITunes Directly From the Command Line

Mac: It’s no secret that a lot of people really don’t like iTunes, but that doesn’t mean most of us really bother replacing it. If you really want an easy way to play some songs from your iTunes library, iTunes-Remote is an easy-to-use command line tool.

iTunes-Remote still requires iTunes to be running, but if you’re not a fan of the actual interface in iTunes, this allows you to use a much simpler command line to control it. The usage is pretty simple, you can play songs, skip tracks, or search. Other than that, he just keeps his job as simple as possible. Sure, from a reductive point of view, this is a bit overkill, but it’s actually enjoyable to use, especially if you tend to spend time in Terminal anyway.
