When it comes to booking affordable travel, time is of the essence. Prices vary slightly depending on when you travel and how early you book your tickets. Kayak was ranked 10th Most Popular Destinations in the United States, including detailed flight pricing information.
Kayak compiled its list and data by analyzing over a billion searches on its site. Travel + Leisure analyzed this data and found the best times to book and travel to ten cities on the Kayak list. Here are some ideas:
Seattle Best Time to Book Flights : Last year, if you booked a month in advance, you cost around $ 323. In October last year, the average airfare was $ 301. You might want to refrain from flying in July when prices averaged $ 408, which is the most expensive of the year.
San Francisco Best Time to Book Flights : Kayak recommends planning bookings at least a month in advance – prices averaged $ 356 last year. In 2015, the cheapest month to fly was October, with airfare averaging $ 336. The most expensive month was July, when the average ticket cost $ 429.
New York City Best Time to Book Flights : Last year’s traveler found the best deal when booking at least a month in advance – averaging $ 279 airfare. The cheapest month to book last year was October ($ 281). Travelers heading to New York in June saw the highest airfares, averaging $ 347.
Of course, this is not an exact science. Like any Best Time to Buy guide, it simply offers a rough estimate.
