AT&T Returns Unlimited Data Plans Bundled With Home TV
Still desperate to find a workaround to get unlimited data on AT&T? Well, here’s a new arrow in your quiver of tricks. You can get unlimited wireless data if you also buy Internet Home TV from AT&T.
The company announced that from the outset, users who have an AT&T wireless data plan, as well as a DirecTV (owned by AT&T) or AT&T U-Verse TV subscription, can qualify for the unlimited data plan. For one smartphone, this plan will start at $ 100 per month. Each new additional line will cost an additional $ 40 per month.
Update: An older version of this article said that only home internet access was required for this deal. It was wrong. The unlimited wireless data plan requires a home TV service .
While this will be good news for people exclusively using AT&T services, it is kind of a jerk to everyone else. Historically, cellular data plans have generally not been associated with home Internet or TV plans. Unlimited data is a prize that many users have been striving for since AT&T ditched its old plans. Now that it’s available, you can only get it bundled with other services that might not be the best option for your home.
Either way, this should be good news for at least some clients. Hopefully AT&T will expand its unlimited options to more customers in the future, although even though the company has resisted even legacy users, we didn’t expect this to happen too soon.
