“Never Touch Things Twice”

To stay productive, you need to not only maintain momentum, but also manage your time. It’s better to finish whatever you started rather than postponing half-completed tasks until later.

Obviously, some tasks are long-term projects that require revision from you. However, for common day-to-day tasks, Dr. Travis Bradburry, co-author of Emotional Intelligence 2.0 , suggests never leaving any task incomplete:

Never touch things twice . That’s all. Never put anything in a hold circuit because double-touching things is a huge waste of time. Don’t save an email or phone call to deal with later. As soon as something grabs your attention, you have to take action, delegate it, or delete it.

When you stop procrastinating halfway through and complete tasks as they come in, you will maintain your productivity momentum and be able to do more in the long run. Plus, you won’t forget what you did and how you did it. There is no better time to complete a task than when you start it.
