Search “Bubble Level” on Google on Your Phone to Get a Working Level

Google recently added another handy tool to its search box if you’re searching from your phone. Just enter “bubble level” and you get a field that uses your phone’s accelerometer to determine whether something is level or not.

While it is obvious that the digital representation of the bubble level may be miscalibrated and therefore slightly out of order, this tool still does its job as a last resort. In my tests, it was accurate to within one degree. If you need reliability in your day-to-day work, you probably already carry a real bubble level with you, but on those rare occasions when you can’t find your level, your phone can handle it as a last resort.
