You can expect hubs to be quite crowded, especially during the holidays. With a little preparation, you can easily navigate your terminal. This cheat sheet from the New York Times gives you detailed information on the locations of ten popular hubs, from JFK to LAX.

In addition to basic layout and terminal information, their list also offers detailed information on security, connectivity, and other amenities. Here are some details, for example for JFK and LAX:

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)

… Los Angeles Airport has nine terminals, including the new Tom Bradley International Terminal (1, 2, 6, 7 and 8 under construction). American Airlines parks at Terminal 4, Delta at 5, and United at 7 and 8. Terminals 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 are unfolded and accessible on foot without having to exit and re-enter security.

Safety Brief: In connection with the construction inside and outside the airport, has created a new website, LAX Is Happening, which offers travel tips for each terminal. Additional checkpoints have been added to Terminals 5 and 6 to reduce congestion.

John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK)

Kennedy in New York operates six remote terminals, numbered 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, and 8, connected inside the Airtrain airport outside of checkpoints. Moving between them requires pilots to go through security again at their new terminal. Virgin America and Virgin Atlantic are in Terminal 4; JetBlue and Hawaiian – at 5; Alaska, American Airlines, and American Eagle are in 8th place; while Delta operates in Terminals 2 and 4.

Low security: Domestic terminals at JFK are among the best equipped at the airport, with a dozen or more security lanes.

Connectivity: 30 minutes of free Wi-Fi is provided at the airport. Most Delta gates have charging stations, and Terminal 5’s central atrium has a variety of retail outlets.
