Make Your Amtrak Ride Easier With Their Free Red Cap Service

If you are traveling on Amtrak and have a lot of luggage, take advantage of their free luggage service to make your trip easier. You will be able to board earlier without having to worry about carrying heavy bags to storage.

Corina Quinn of Travel + Leisure talks about the benefits of using Amtrak’s baggage service:

Carrying bags? You’ll want to opt for Red Cap, a free baggage handling service available at 12 major stations across the country. Most travelers don’t realize that Little Red Riding Hood is available to all travelers. Find people in red shirts, show them your ticket, and they will escort you and your bags to the train, allowing you to catch early. You can choose where you want to sit and they will hide your bags for you; upon arrival at your destination, the conductor will place a red cap for you when you get off the plane. Note. Although this is a free service, it is recommended to tip, especially during busy periods such as holidays.

If you have heavy or multiple bags, ask Red Cap for help. The service is also useful if you are in a large group and do not want to bother figuring out how to store all the bags, as well as finding enough space for everyone (since you board early).
