Strikethru Makes Paper Productive by Combining GTD and Bullet Journal

If you prefer a pen and notebook over digital to-do lists, then a new productivity system is here to help. Strikethru combines elements of the GTD method and the Bullet Journal to create a new productivity-enhancing handwritten technique.

As system creator Chris explains on Reddit , all you need is a book and a pen. Strikethru has three main parts:

  • Ongoing List: Your active to-do list for the day, which you fill out the night before with a 5-minute review. Limit yourself to just nine tasks a day. Each task also has a priority circle to determine the order in which they will be solved.
  • Dump: A place where you can write down all your tasks and ideas in a book.
  • Repository: Specific lists go into the repository, with a two-letter tag in a box for each. For example, “Pr” for Project, “Wk” for Weekly, and so on.
  • Calendars: If you schedule tasks, add calendars to the beginning of the workbook and place the tasks in the appropriate daily, weekly, or monthly column.

The Lite Strikethru system only uses the first two parts, the Standard system adds Vault, and the Pro system adds calendars. Chris adds that you can combine Strikethru with other popular productivity systems like the Kanban Method or the Pomodoro Method .

Go to the site and you can download a manual with detailed instructions on how to create your own Strikethru book. And yes, Moleskine’s new productivity-focused books can be a good companion!
