Would you like to be more creative? Certainly! Creativity is something that you can develop , but it can also bring traits to you that can be viewed as negative. However, this is not as problematic as you might think.

As explained in the Harvard Business Review business blog, creative thinking can go hand in hand with some traits that are otherwise considered less desirable. For example, an inability to suppress unnecessary thoughts (look, kitten) or poor impulse control . However, these aspects of personality are often part of the creative process.

While it is easy to become obsessed with one aspect of your personality as you develop your creativity, it is worth remembering that your mind may not always be divided this way. If you were better at controlling your unnecessary thoughts, you might be able to suppress a great idea. If you had a better approach, you might have fewer great ideas of your own. If you’re trying to develop your creativity but notice some traits that cause friction, don’t be afraid to put up with some downsides.
