Teleport on IOS Uses Uber to Take Your Friends and Family to You

Technically, you can already call Uber for someone else, but it can be a long and frustrating process. Teleport on iOS makes it very easy to call Uber for someone else and deliver it to you. They don’t need to register, download or pay for anything.

Created by Michael Wang, Victor Wang, Eugene Yee, and Bob Wu, Teleport uses the Uber API so you can drop off anyone in your phone’s contacts. There is no download required on their part and you can send them anywhere for free. You can invite a thrifty friend to pick you up for a drink, impress a date with his own driver to drive him to an unexpected meeting point, or make life easier for an older family member who has a harder time getting around.

You must register to send a teleport request, but once you do that and link your Uber account, you are ready to go. Pick someone from your phone contacts and you can add a message and photo to your invitation, choose the address you want to send it to (by default, this is your current location), and choose between all the different Uber services they offer. The default is Uber Line, but you can send a fancy UberBlack to impress, or even an UberAssist if they are in a wheelchair or need special care. Once they accept your teleportation request, Uber will be delivered to their location. However, keep in mind that all rates and ratings will be applied to your Uber account.

It is currently only available for iOS, but the app makers say the Android app is ready and should be available by early 2016. You can download the app from the link below, or learn more about it on their website .
