Convert Old Pallets Into a Cheap and Durable Bike Rack

Having a dedicated bike rack is great, but they can be quite expensive. Instead, make one yourself with a few free wooden pallets , the right tools, and an afternoon workday.

Instructables user Davinci2K1 explains what you need for this project:

  • Two wooden pallets 46 “x24”
  • a circular saw
  • drill / screwdriver and screws
  • 24 inch board

When you have all the materials, cut one of the pallets in half. Place one of the pallet halves at a 90 degree angle to the second pallet, half of the pallet forming the bottom of your rack. Overlap the two pallets to twist them at the back. Add a board on top of a full pallet as a shelf for storing bike gear or helmets. You may need a rasp to fit the slots to your bike’s wheels.

If you want to add room for the scooters, use the excess wood from the second half of the pallet to narrow the slots to fit the wheels of the scooter. For visual step-by-step instructions, check out the full post at the link below.
