Clean a Dirty Backpack in the Washing Machine With a Pillowcase

You may notice clean backpacks for the most part, but when they are really dirty, it is best to go to the washing machine. You can protect your backpack and washing machine with a pillowcase.

Backpacks contain all kinds of belts, buckles, zippers and other items that could potentially get caught in the moving parts of the washing machine. Not to mention the straps themselves, which can get tangled around the rotating stirrer if your washing machine has one. To prevent this from happening, simply pour everything out of the backpack, open all the compartments and put it in a pillowcase. An old pillowcase that you don’t really care about works best. Then, tie a pillowcase and toss in it. Add a little detergent and wash it in warm water on a gentle cycle. This will keep your backpack and washing machine safe. Plus, if you didn’t get everything out of your backpack (change, pens, etc.), the Pillowcase will prevent them from going where they should. After washing, hang it somewhere to dry.
