The Cheapest and Most Profitable Places to Get a Flu Shot
Flu shot season again! You’ve no doubt seen the signs that read “go get the flu shot!” Before you impulsively comply with this announcement, find out where is the best place to get the flu shot this year.
Cheapism researched six of the largest pharmacy chains and warehouse clubs such as Costco and Sam’s Club (as well as one doctor’s office in Columbus, Ohio) to break down the prices of the flu shot for each provider:
Major drugstore chains charge more than double that of Costco, the provider of the cheapest flu shots. It’s just a $ 17 difference, but still a reminder that when you buy paper towels in bulk at Costco, you can drop by the pharmacy for a shot.
Cheapness offers several excuses for not going to Costco if you are so inclined: in CVS you can get 20% off one shopping trip after a flu shot, Target offers 5% savings after filling out 5 prescriptions (including the shot), and Walgreens donates vaccine to a child in need for every flu shot.
However, check with your health insurance as yours may cover some or all of the costs.
