Create These Simple and Cheap Open Shelves for Your Kitchen or Dining Room

Open shelves are a worthy alternative to built-in wardrobes. You can assemble and install them over the weekend in your own workshop.

If you have beautiful plates, bowls, and glassware that won’t embarrass you if you don’t use them, then open shelving is a great option for your kitchen. It’s easy to find where everything is and by removing bulky cabinets you can actually free up a little space.

This project uses 1-inch diameter pine treads, but you can use any similar type of wood. It is helpful to have a table saw, miter saw, drill / screwdriver, band saw, and sander to complete this project. This is completely manageable without the big woodworking tools, but it really does speed up the project.

Watch the video above and follow the step-by-step instructions for assembling the shelves.
