Use Some Google Now Voice Commands Without Internet Connection

Android: Google voice commands are amazing . The only catch is that you need an internet connection to use them. However, some of them now work even when you are offline.

As noted by Android Police, a recent update to the Google Android app allowed certain voice commands to be used offline. Most are hardware related, but some can control applications, including the following:

  • Play music
  • Open [APP NAME]
  • Turn on / off Wi-Fi
  • Increase / decrease volume
  • Flashlight on / off
  • Turning airplane mode on / off
  • Turn Bluetooth On / Off
  • Decrease screen brightness

There aren’t a ton of voice commands that work without an internet connection anyway, but this is a pretty good starting list. If you try to perform a voice command when you don’t have an Internet connection, Google will offer this list as a suggestion after the usual “Something went wrong” error.
