Use a Chisel to Make a Portable Woodworking Router

Cutting dado and tenon requires precise tolerances. This portable router is easy to make and offers consistent depth of cut and a better feel than a powered router .

Start with 3 x 1 pieces of wood and a sharp chisel. Pick a drill bit that is slightly narrower than the chisel and drill it halfway into the center of the tree at a 35 to 45 degree angle.

Use a hammer to push the chisel (bevel down) through the corner hole until it comes out the other side. This portable router works best with a cut already started and is great for fine tuning depth settings.
