Convert Your Old Nintendo 64 Controller Into a Rocket Launcher
Have an old Nintendo 64 controller lying around? If you’re looking for a project this weekend, you can turn it into the perfect hobby rocket launcher with a few tweaks.
In this YouTube video by Grant Thompson, “The King of Randomness,” you will learn how to breathe new life into a classic controller. You will need to drill, solder, and need some cheap electronic components to complete the project, but it looks like it works great when completed. The N64 controller is great for such projects because it is easy to disassemble and modify. The “Z” button in the form of a trigger connects the main power from the 9-volt battery pack (located in the Rumble Pack space), and the red “A” button is used as the main igniter for launching missiles. Even the controller cord can be used in ignitors for future rocket launches. Sure, you could probably build this type of remote into another case, or just buy it online for $ 25, but it looks a lot cooler in an N64 controller.
