These Are the Most Overgrown Spots on the Plane.
It’s impossible to completely avoid germs, but when you’re trapped with them at 35,000 feet, you might want to know where they most like to hang out. Turns out the dirtiest place is right in front of your seat.
In a recent experiment using Travelmath’s travel time calculator, the microbiologist collected 26 samples from five different airports and four different flights to see where the most germs on an airplane actually live. Surprisingly, the toilet flush button and door locks were some of the cleanest surfaces sampled on all four flights. The tray table, however, turned out to be the most unpleasant spot for germs on every level. At the tables with trays, buttons for drinking fountains appeared at the airports themselves. Fortunately, none of the 26 samples contained fecal coliforms such as E. coli. There are several things you can do to avoid getting germs on an airplane , with proper hand hygiene being your number one priority. However, you can rethink placing groceries, tablets, and children’s toys right on the tray for your own peace of mind. You can read more about the methodology at the link below.
