Soothe Your Hands With Hot Peppers a Mild Whitening Solution
Working with hot peppers can cause your hands to burn, sometimes for several hours. The next time you venture into peppers without gloves, grab some bleach.
This tip is actually from kitchen expert Alton Brown: Washing your hands with soap and water will not get rid of the burns that a good hot pepper can leave on your skin. Gloves are the best way to completely avoid the problem, but if your hands are already on fire, dampen them with a mild 5: 1 bleaching solution of water. The bleach helps turn capsaicin that has not yet been absorbed into the skin into a water-soluble salt that washes off.
Another reason to have bleach with you? This is a suitable concentration for quickly disinfecting items such as cutting boards after washing. Just sprinkle them with water after washing. After that, you do not need to rinse. I always keep a spray bottle under the sink.
