Amazon Prime Video Gets Offline Playback on IOS and Android
iOS / Android: Amazon may not be the most popular video streaming service on the market, but today it has a terrific feature that brings it one step closer to its competitors: offline video.
iTunes and Google Play could have been doing this for a while, of course, but these are pay-per-video services. In Amazon Prime Video, this was also on the Kindle Fire, but now iOS and Android users can download movies or TV shows for offline playback, perfect for saving data or watching on an airplane.
It is currently only available for certain shows and movies, but that’s a decent list. You can download Amazon’s own shows, as well as HBO, NBCUniversal, CBS and Fox shows, not to mention some movies, including Epix movies like Star Trek Into Darkness and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire . Which, by the way, is losing to Netflix . Ouch.
If only Amazon provided us with Chromecast support.
