The Best Mindfulness Apps Listed in One Spreadsheet

A growing body of research shows that practicing mindfulness has a number of benefits. With at least 700 mobile apps claiming to help you stay alert, choosing one of them is not easy. The new study, however, sorted hundreds of mindfulness apps and ranked them according to their characteristics.

Researchers rated apps using the Mobile App Rating Scale (MARS), which ranks apps on functionality, appearance, quality of information, engagement, and subjective quality. They found that only 4% of the 700 apps actually provide mindfulness education and training. Most were timers, reminders, or guided meditation apps. However, the apps with the best ratings are shown in the table below.

The researchers also note that there is little evidence of how effective these supplements are in developing mindfulness. However, if you want to learn how to be more mindful anywhere, anytime, these mobile apps are well worth a try. You can read the full study below.
