Martian Desktop With Two Monitors

Orbmiser put together this dual-monitor Windows desktop using gorgeous wallpapers from MSL Curiosity , smart use of virtual desktops, and multiple desktop widgets.

Since the last time we looked at a great desktop with two monitors, you liked it, we decided to highlight another one. Orbmeiser’s desktop is pretty simple – it’s Windows 7 running a few discontinued Yahoo widgets, but somehow they still work on his desktop. Here’s what it uses and what you need if you want to achieve the same effect on your system:

Since Orbmiser still uses Yahoo! Widgets, you can get them from a third party source that still has an installer if you like (calendar and weather widgets have been merged, so you can technically still use them), just be careful and only download from a trusted source as the software is very old. If you don’t want to go that route, our old friend Rainmeter can give you a similar result. If you like what you see, check out Orbmiser’s Flickr page at the link below. It even has a similar installation using KDE Plasema 5 running on Manjaro if you’re a Linux user!

Do you have a beautiful and functional desktop to show off? Share with us! Post it to your personal Kinja blog using the Desktop Showcase tag or add it to our Lifehacker Desktop Show and Tell Flickr pool . Screenshots must be at least 640×360 in size and include information about what you used, links to wallpapers, skins and themes, and any other important information. If your wonderful desktop catches our attention, you may be on our favorites!
