Everything New You Can Ask Siri to Do With Apple Music

Whether you like it or not, the big appeal of Apple Music is its deep integration with iOS. This means Siri can do whatever it wants for you to play music. Let’s take a look at some of these commands.

Siri’s Apple Music integration includes all the old stuff. You can ask to play any song, album, artist, or playlist, and Siri will immediately start playing from your library or Apple Music. Apart from this, there are many new teams.

  • Turn on different radio stations . You can ask Siri to do things like Play Beats 1, Play Indie Rock Station, or even start an artist’s radio station like Play Mastodon Station. You can also customize what happens to these radio stations with commands such as “I like this song,” “Don’t play this song again,” and “Play more songs like this.”
  • Play the Top Charts: If you feel a little nostalgic, you can ask Siri to play songs of any year with commands such as Play Best Songs of 1982 or even Play Best Song of January 1982. You can also do this by artist using commands such as Play The Beach Boys’ Best Album or Play the Best Neurosis Songs. Likewise, you can also ask Siri to play songs from movie soundtracks you may not know the names of using commands such as Play Top Gun Songs or Play True Detective Song.
  • Playlist Queue : Apple Music has both standard playlists and the Next queue from iTunes 12. You can control both with Siri. In the Up Next queue, you might say something like, “After this song, play“ Stonefist ”by Health,” or “Instead of this piece, Born in the USA by Bruce Springsteen.” You can also play Apple’s carefully curated playlists with commands such as Play Pitchfork Playlist or Play Playlist to Make Parents Love the Noise.
  • Add music to your library . If you are listening to something in Apple Music that you like, be it an album or a song, you can add it to your library using the “Add this [song or album] to my library” command.
  • Play music by chronology : If you’re not sure about the title of an album, you can still make Siri play it if you know when it came out. You can say commands such as “Play the first album from LCD Soundsystem” or “Play the newest Taylor Swift song.”

As with most things with Siri, there are probably a few other commands that we’ll reveal over time, but that’s enough to get you started.
