Avocado Puree With a Knife for a Slice of Guacamole

If you like chunky guacamole, try cutting it all together with a knife, as shown in the video from Ina Garten. You will get the texture you want and this will speed up the process.

As you can see in the video, simply add the avocado, spices, herbs, and garlic to the bowl. Then use a knife to “chop” all the ingredients together instead of chopping them up with a fork. The result is a well-blended but very coarse guacamole. Of course, if you prefer a smoother guac, that won’t do at all and you should still grab a fork, but if you like large chunks of avocado and other ingredients, this is perfect.

Be careful, you must use a basin that can withstand the knife and a knife that will not be damaged by this method (such as a butter knife). When I tried this, I just felt like an avocado, so I mashed it with a butter knife while it was still in the peel. This method only really works if your avocados are good and ripe , so keep that in mind. If you’re a fan of chunky guacamole, this method can make chopping the ingredients easier.
