How Long Does It Take for Kids to Read These Popular Children’s Books
It is important for children to learn to read and write. And some of the classics we read as children become our favorite stories as adults. It is interesting to know how long it takes children to read these classics. Whether you’re evaluating your child’s reading speed or just trying to plan how long it will take to complete an assignment, this information can come in handy.
Using fluency standards from literacy company Learning AZ , Personal Creations calculated how long it takes children to read a range of popular children’s books. For each book, they used an average reading speed based on their respective learning level.
They rated Where the Wild Beasts a Second Grade reading level, estimating it should take about 4.2 minutes, in accordance with fluency guidelines. Charlotte’s Web , a fourth grade book, takes about 6.8 hours.
