Blow Into a Straw to Exercise (and Not Lose) Your Voice

The next time someone tells you to stop blowing bubbles in your drink, tell them that you are working on your singing career. It turns out that blowing up on a straw can help train your vocal cords and prevent voice loss.

As the news site Vox explains, blowing into a straw is a type of so-called semi-closed vocal tract exercise . These exercises help stretch your vocal cords. This is useful for warm-ups before performing or singing, but also useful if you are losing your voice. You can use a straw separately, although, as shown in the video above, you can also use it along with a glass of water to further enhance your voice.
