Switch Between the Three Calculators in OS X Using a Keyboard Shortcut

The OS X calculator is pretty simple at first glance, but it has two additional calculators built in that you might not have guessed: the scientific calculator and the programmer’s calculator. OS X Daily reminds us that you can switch between the two using a keyboard shortcut.

The Scientific Calculator and Basic Calculator work as you would expect, while the Programmer’s Calculator works with Hexadecimal, Decimal, Binary, and so on. To switch between them, you can use the View menu or the keyboard shortcut:

  • Command + 1 for basic calculator
  • Command + 2 for Scientific Calculator
  • Command + 3 for programmer-calculator

If you didn’t know they were there, this is a pretty handy shortcut to save them.
