Why Achieving a Weight Loss Plateau Is Really a Good Deal

A terrible weight loss plateau: You’ve done so well on your weight loss journey, and then, bam, the scales won’t budge anymore. Don’t despair though, MyFitnessPal reminds us that this plateau is actually a good sign.

Plateaus happen. We know they will happen. In fact, when we reach a plateau, it means that we have made progress! This is the perfect time to look back and see how far you’ve come, because no human effort is linear. Learning a language, playing an instrument, dating, or literate writing all takes time, and improvements come in waves of easy progress, then stagnation, followed by bursts of further progress.

Diane Fu, a San Francisco-based weightlifting coach, tells his athletes, “When you hit the first plateau and don’t improve your skills as quickly as before, congratulations! You’re not a beginner anymore! “

It’s the same with fat loss. Weight loss can be quick at first, because the more weight you need to lose, the sooner it will come. The closer you get to your target weight, the slower it gets. So this is not a sign that you are doing something wrong; this is a sign that you did everything right! This is a sign that you are completely normal and have reached the point where everyone is on their way to weight loss. A plateau is a sign on the road that you are heading in the right direction and that you have made a lot of progress.

Plus, there are things you can do to overcome this plateau with minimal effort .
