Download Displays Apps Using Your Network in the Menu Bar

Mac: When an app goes online in iOS, you get a handy little indicator on the top bar to let you know when apps are connecting to the internet. Download is a Mac app that provides the same functionality in OS X.

When the app uses your network connection, the download starts spinning. Click the icon and you will see a list of applications using your network. Holding down the Option key will give you a direct path to this application. If you’re worried about apps connecting to the Internet without your knowledge, downloading is a very easy way to see what’s going on in real time.
