AVG Crumble Blocks Tracking of the Sites You Visit, No Lists Required

Chrome: Browser cookies are not inherently evil, but third-party cookies can lead to unwanted tracking. The new AVG Chrome extension Crumble addresses this issue by blocking trackers without disrupting the sites you visit.

What sets Crumble apart from others is AVG’s claim that it can identify cookies by type rather than specific blacklists. This means that a new ad network, or a network adapted to existing listings, is just as vulnerable to Crumble as an existing one. The company also states that it blocks cookies in a way that does not interfere with the functionality of the site, which usually presents a risk when you selectively disable elements of a web page without knowing exactly what they are doing.
