The Best Way to Shuffle and Shuffle a Deck of Playing Cards

The whole point of shuffling a deck of cards is to randomize their order as best as possible. For best results, you should have at least seven basic rifle shuffles in your deck.

This video from Numberphile YouTube channel features statistics and mathematics professor Percy Diaconis at Stanford University explaining why you need at least seven shuffles. Of course, the shuffle should be standard shuffle shuffle, not top-to-bottom shuffle (this type requires about 10,000 shuffles to achieve the same level of randomization). Smushing, the process of laying cards on the table and mixing them together, can also be effective, but you need to do this for about a minute.
