Readlang Helps You Learn a Foreign Language While Browsing the Web

The most effective way to learn a foreign language is to immerse yourself in it as much as possible . Readlang is a web app and Chrome extension that helps you learn by translating websites and creating flashcards and word lists for you.

In the web application, you can insert text or download a book or article in the target language. In the minimalist Readlang reader, you can then click on words or phrases you don’t know to translate them back into English or your native language. There is also a selection of publicly available texts and videos shared by other Readlang users that you could use to learn, with filters by difficulty and word length.

The Chrome extension works in a similar way, translating phrases on web pages into English or another language using Google Translate.

Readlang is similar to the previously mentioned Dive into the Language Environment , but is more robust and operates as a standalone website. You can customize the dictionary and sync YouTube videos with transcriptions. Perhaps the most useful parts of Readlang are the wordlist and flashcards functions. The app keeps track of your translated phrases and creates flashcards (with an interval repetition algorithm) that you can practice with.

More than 50 languages are supported and Readlang works on all devices.
