Pixar RenderMan’s Powerful 3D Rendering Software Is Now Free to Use
If you’re into 3D modeling or animation, Pixar’s proprietary software, which has been used for films like Toy Story , Cars, and recent films like Guardians of the Galaxy , is now completely free to download and use.
RenderMan is used by major studios to create photorealistic lighting in CG scenes, and Pixar is used to render all of its animation functions. You can download it for free and use it as much as you want, but one catch is that it is a non-commercial license, which means you have to buy a commercial license if you want to make money from your creation. It’s important to note that RenderMan is not a 3D modeling application, so you first need to create some 3D models or animations to render. It can be used in conjunction with Maya as well as the KATANA lighting program (compatibility with additional software coming soon).
