Strengthen Your Professional Network by Doing One Favor Every Week

When it comes to your career, your professional network can be your most powerful tool. You can strengthen your network by providing one service to one person every week.

It’s hard – and rather uncool – to ask for help when it seems like you’ll never return a favor. If you find yourself always too busy to maintain your network, Kofi Kankam, Founder and CEO of Admit Advantage , suggests that you only choose one person each week to try to help:

Aside from meeting other people through networking events and the like, I believe it would be worth making an effort to reach at least one contact on your network per week and see how you can help that person. You will spend time strengthening your current network, gain some insight into the issues that could affect your business, and be well prepared for people to think about how they can help you.

As you move through your network, you will keep in touch with everyone to stay on good terms. They will see you helping and hopefully return the favor someday. Even if you are very busy, you probably have time to talk to one person a week. Everything comes back.
