How to Have Sex in the Shower Without Hurting Yourself

Shower sex is fucking hot … theoretically. But between the difference in height, soap in the wrong places, sliding and falling – this is how you can ride each other without disappointment.

Safety first!

Let’s start with the obvious: security. Sportsheets has a whole line of products to help you avoid slipping and falling while on the move. A single or double suction interlock handle can give each of you the much needed leverage. You can even try these suction cuffs to add some S&M scent to your shower adventures! This suction cup footrest can give you or your partner a place to lean on one leg. (It also serves as a comfortable resting place when you shave your legs, by the way.) At the very least, place a rubber bath mat on the shower floor. The dangers of slipping are real, people.

Do not use condoms …

Another important safety note: Condoms are not reliable in the shower. They slide off more easily and can break on contact with water. So make sure you have a second way to prevent pregnancy and / or STIs .

… But use a lubricant

Water will keep things nice and moist, right? Wrong! The water actually dries out the natural vaginal lubricant and can make penetration much more difficult. If you engage in vaginal or anal penetration during sex, you will need extra lubrication, even if you usually don’t need it.

Water-based lubricants will flush out, so make sure your lubricant is silicone based. It can withstand contact with water for a long time. Just remember to wash it off with soap afterwards, and remember that silicone lubricants can ruin silicone sex toys.

Do it while standing

If you don’t have a soul worthy of MTV’s Cheat Sheet, you probably have a limited number of jobs available. If you are having any kind of penetrative sex, it is best to stand up and look in the same direction. The penetrated partner can hold their hands against the shower wall to gain leverage. The person doing the penetration may also be pushing against the wall or may be holding on to one of the aforementioned handles. Try not to use your partner as leverage, as you are more likely to slip (and when one of you falls, the other will almost certainly fall on you).

One of the hardest problems with shower sex is dealing with height differences. If one of you is significantly taller than the other, have the shorter person put their legs closer together and the taller person extend their stance or squat down a bit. Never try to stand on the edge of the tub! If you are about the same height, you can try standing facing each other with the penetrated partner propping up the foot sucker with your foot.

Don’t be limited to penetration

Remember that intercourse is not the only way to have sex, and other intimate activities may be more suitable for showering. Fellatio lovers can place their boyfriend on the edge of the showerhead’s radius so the water bounces off his back and doesn’t get into your eyes (it’s also helpful to have a soft bath mat to protect your knees). Or use silicone lubricant to jerk off very slippery. Press your lady against the shower wall and slide your finger over her from the back. You can also bring waterproof (emphasis on waterproof) sex toys in the shower to help each other with less effort. The shower is also a great place for anal play , especially if you tend to be very sensitive about the back door. You gain the confidence knowing that everything is perfectly clean right before you start.

You can also use the shower as a foreplay. Tease your partner by letting him watch you cleanse, but not allowing them to join you. Or you can kiss and tease each other with your hands and mouths and then step out of the shower to finish each other off (perhaps on a sturdy counter in your bathroom?)

Try a bath

Bath sex usually doesn’t get as much attention as shower sex, but it can be just as fun. If you are having penetrative sex, the partner may be on top, facing or away from the partner. They can stand up on their feet and use their hands on the edge of the tub for even more leverage. Or the catcher can sit on the pitcher’s lap and they rub against each other. Be careful with how high you fill the tub, unless you want to waste your post-orgasm afterglow cleaning up the mess!

If you’re fortunate enough to have multiple jets in your tub, you can strategically line up against the current to get delicious pressure in all the right places. Revel Body manufactures a product called Sol, which creates a surprisingly unique bathtub suction feeling perfect for nipples and other sensitive areas.

Keep it fast

I highly recommend going quick when you are having sex in the shower. It can make the experience that much more intense and passionate, not to mention relieve sore limbs, cut fingers, and irritation from soaps and other bath products. Remember; you can always continue after you exit!
