Make Straight Cuts Every Time Around the Cardboard Concrete Molds

Concrete formwork pipes greatly simplify the installation of deck supports. But trimming these tubes to level can be inconvenient. Here’s a simple tip that will make cutting straight lines on a curved object a breeze.

Cardboard-concrete formwork pipes are the forms that you pour concrete onto to create a perfectly round support. It is very important that your pipes are cut evenly at the top and bottom to ensure an even base.

The video above shows how to make a fixture by cutting a 3-inch piece of cardboard from the factory edge and then using a hose clamp to stretch and squeeze the fixture around the pipe. Use a factory edge that’s straight as an arrow (set a level on it to be sure) and make your marks.
