Build Wood Shelves for Garage Storage for Under $ 50

When you’re short on storage space, your best bet is to save up. You can buy steel and plastic shelves at a home improvement store, but steel shelves are expensive and heavy, and plastic shelves can sag and fall apart. Take the time to build your own wood shelves and you have a fully customizable and reliable storage solution.

Home Depot, Lowe’s and your local lumber warehouse have everything you need to create your own warehouse shelves. Heck, you might even have enough materials in the scrap pile to build a storage rack.

All you need are some 2×4, OSB (or plywood) and 2 ” deck screws. This particular shelving unit has four levels and is supported by six 2x4s. A drill / screwdriver, a level and a measuring tape are required to assemble the device. This video shows you how to use bag boxes and 2×4 shelves to help hold each new shelf in place as you attach it.

Watch the video above for a complete list of cuts and assembly instructions.
