Be Willing to Share Your Challenges to Overcome Them.
We all face certain obstacles. Sometimes these obstacles can help us overcome. To be persistent, you need to surround yourself with people who know what you are going through. This means that you must be open about the problems you are facing.
The article asks the question, “Why are some people so good at persistence?” CEO Nathan Contney concludes that networking plays a big role in driving persistence:
Too many of us, especially those in business, suffer in isolation … don’t be afraid to be honest with all of these connections and actually ask for help. I can’t believe how many people tell me how well their company is doing and after three months it stops working. If they could only share their concerns, maybe I or someone on their network could help.
It is natural to be afraid to share your problems or difficulties. You may be embarrassed that things are not going as easily as you hoped. Or maybe you just don’t want to bother people with your problems. But you may be surprised at how well others can empathize with your difficulties. If you can reach out to these people during tough times, it will be much easier for you to persist on the road to success.
As 99U says:
If you have a network of people you can openly reach out to when you need a fresh perspective or positive support, you will probably be better off than someone who closes their problems internally.
