It’s so nice when science intersects with food and catering. At Make, Wayne Hammond came up with a way to organize spices according to their botanical taxonomy and system, which is very similar to the periodic table of the elements.
He designed U-shaped shelves to accommodate unused space in his kitchen and positioned the 4oz jars according to this table:
In particular, the spices are organized according to the order-family-genus-species type.
