Create Rituals to Be More Consistent in Fitness
Many people tend to worry about their fitness routine. They want to optimize everything, which leads to overthinking and ultimately inconsistency. If that sounds like you, creating a ritual is the best thing you can do.
In fitness, sticking to fundamental principles is far more important than minor details . It’s better to stick to 80% all the time than 100% half the time. However, it’s hard not to analyze too many things, like wondering what is the optimal time to eat carbs after exercise.
Creating a ritual around various aspects of your day – waking up, exercising, going to bed – will help you stay focused and not overwhelmed. Here are some examples of morning rituals from fitness trainer Ben Tormi:
2. Step on the scale. Daily repetition removes emotion, weight is now just a number to write down.
… … …
5. Eat breakfast. If I don’t have breakfast now, I’ll be distracted by work. I want to enjoy my meal.
When you perform these “rituals”, the actions become routine. They have become a habit. This allows you to accumulate small inevitable successes that ultimately lead to big ones.
