“What Thoughts Do You Have?”

Your thoughts may seem harmless, but over time they affect how you feel. You cannot change your emotions right away, but you can change them gradually. Calm down your negative emotions. Be mindful and surround yourself with people and media that fuel your positive side.

Here’s what an old Native American adage says about positive and negative emotions and how they affect our self-control:

A Native American grandfather tells his grandson that there are two wolves inside him who are fighting for power. One wolf is a wolf of love, peace and kindness. Another wolf is the wolf of greed, hatred and depravity.

The grandson asks: “Which wolf will win?”

The grandfather replies: “No matter what wolf I feed.”

You are not the only one feeding your thoughts. Think about what media feeds us, and beware of what you consume (for example, too much news and you might feel fear or resentment, too many rom-coms and you will be disconnected from reality, and so on).
