Remove Stains From the Microfiber Bed With Water or Rubbing Alcohol

Microfiber is advertised as a stain-resistant fabric for furniture, but it can still get stained and smudged. Follow these simple steps to clean your microfiber sofa in less than 15 minutes.

First, determine what microfiber your couch is made of. According to Jillee’s One Good Thing web blog, there are four types of microfiber fabrics. Look at the label on the bottom of the sofa to find one of these codes:

  • W can only be cleaned with water-based solutions.
  • S means you must use a solvent-based cleaner.
  • SW means you can use either water or solvent.
  • V means vacuum cleaner only.

For S and SW microfiber fabrics, you can spray rubbing alcohol directly onto the stain and wipe with a sponge to remove the stain. The video above demonstrates this technique, and it walks around the sofa twice to remove stubborn stains.

Rubbing alcohol dries quickly, which is convenient when working with fabrics based on polyester. Water can stain the couch when it dries.
