Find Out When Your Samsung Device Gets Android 10

One of the annoyances of owning a non-Pixel Android phone is that you’re often a second-class citizen for major Android updates. Google may release a large new version of Android, but you’ll have to wait weeks (or months) for the manufacturer to customize it for your device. Luckily, if you’re a Samsung user, there is a pretty easy way to find out when (or if) you’ll get the next big Android update.

Well, two easy ways.

First, you can just take a look at this Twitter post from Max Weinbach of XDA-Developers, who is rightly upset that his Galaxy Fold has to wait until next April for Android 10 – seven months after its September 2019 release. … …

Second, you can open the list yourself, allowing you to check for changes to the release schedule. Start by launching the Samsung Members app. Find the bell icon as reported by SamMobile and tap on it to open the Notifications section. (I don’t have a Samsung device to test this, so we’ll have to trust SamMobile for this.)

You should then see a roadmap for your country, if available. And this “for your country” part is critical as the roadmap can vary by location. You’ve probably figured this out by now, since the reports are dripping in this Galaxy S10S already receiving Android 10 update, but this is an international rollout and American users will have to wait until January for their turn.

In this Samsung Members app, you also register to receive beta updates for your operating system , so keep that in mind the next time you launch a new version of Android; you might be able to get into the game even earlier if you don’t mind a few bugs here and there.
