Make These Festive Sweet Balls With Any Liquor
The holidays require a certain surplus in terms of both sugar and alcohol. For some, it means something nasty, like an eggnog, but we are not some people . Instead, I like to combine a mixture of crushed cookies, crushed nuts, and whatever liqueur I love as hell to make an unambiguously retro confection known as the drunken ball .
The most popular iteration is the classic rum ball, but you can swap out booze, nuts, and cookies to create your own treat. Dry, waffle-like cookies are best, but make sure you have excess on hand and keep adding the crumbs until your “dough” is sticky. Roll up a bunch of balls, toss them in the icing sugar and serve immediately (or refrigerate in an airtight container).
