Invite MSG to the Super Bowl Party

I stopped giving a damn about football, but it wouldn’t be fair to deny that Super Bowl Sunday is one of the most sacred food holidays. All the greats are present – wings, pizza, nacho (sometimes in one hot dish !). It’s a delightful day, but there is one ingredient that’s been denied for a long time, one seasoning that will make your snacks indispensable and help you not defy the host. This substance is monosodium glutamate, and it can improve everything on your Super Bowl snack table.

If you are worried about “poisoning” guests with “chemicals”, please know two things: all food contains chemicals (the molecular composition of orange juice is completely insane), and monosodium glutamate is not dangerous . Also, if you’ve ever exhibited a Doritos bag at a soccer watching party, the damage has already been done, checkmate, etc.

Anyway. MSG enhances flavor by enhancing umami. This means your wings will be more savory, your chili will be more meaty, your onion sauce will be more bulbous, and your taste will be richer. MSG disrupts the flavor profile of food, providing exciting new flavors dancing on your tongue as you eat. This makes people eat more food, which is great news because the half-eaten Super Bowl spread is bad and depressing.

I rarely measure the amount of MSG I add to anything, as you can add it at the last minute, try and adjust as needed, but a general rule of thumb is half a teaspoon per pound of meat or half a teaspoon per pound of meat. … four servings of sauce, chili, queso, or something else.

I’m sure your genius mind is already making a list of party snacks to sprinkle on this crystalline mix, but I really can’t think of a savory soccer watch snack you shouldn’t be adding it to. In addition to the aforementioned wings (sprinkle them with sauce), chili and onion sauce, you can add it to the nachos through a layer of beans or meat, mix it into a cheese ball, sprinkle with chichito pepper, or mix with Bloody Mary if you prefer to drink it. It is also good in any sauce, be it pizza or barbecue. If you start to feel overwhelmed with possibilities, just add them to all of your push-ups. All the best sauces contain monosodium glutamate.
