Wash Your Dirty Whiskey Martini
Smoke and salt go together very well – ask any dad who owns a Big Green Egg. While you’ll usually find a mix of flavors in a grilled meats, it’s just as great in a martini.
A dirty martini made with a little olive grout is an especially good candidate for a little smoke. You can smoke the glass by setting fire to a piece of wood , or you can rinse the glass with a little smoky tape, which is much simpler and a little more elegant. A hint of campfire from booze will add another layer of dimension to the somewhat kitsch cocktail, complementing the cheerful olive juice without overwhelming it. I say it tastes better.
Obviously, you will need peat tape for this, but you will need very little. Simply pour a spoonful into a (chilled) compartment or martini glass, stir a little, then pour (perhaps into your mouth so you don’t waste it). Make your dirty martini as usual and then strain it into a whiskey-flavored jar. Enjoy a fully actualized dirty martini and repeat as needed.
