Let Your Kids Take a LEGO Bath
This time of year can be a little unpleasant. The holidays are over, the kids are back at kindergarten or school, the weather is cold and gray (but still mostly snow-free, depending on where you are). It can be hard to come up with new ways to change your daily life to create a little spark of joy in the middle of winter. My suggestion: throw your child’s DUPLO bricks into the bathtub and let them take a LEGO bath.
This was not my idea, although I wish I had remembered it when my child was still taking a bath instead of a shower. He always liked it when I suggested some new kind of regular bath. (Add red food coloring and you have a Valentine bath, dim the lights and add glow sticks and you have a glow bath, etc.)
But no, this idea comes from Suzie Ellison on Instagram : “If time is going backwards right now, if you can’t catch a nap or dinner or go to bed if today is more like Monday than Thursday, I heard you and I also live it all! Turn on the bath, drain the LEGO and watch life sort of improve. “
She even instructs her children to dry the bricks by giving them a colander to scoop up and spread out on a towel perfect for the activity.
I really think you will want to use DUPLO bricks for this exercise rather than your regular smaller LEGO bricks. When they are wet, they are easier to handle and cleaning will be faster. But the bricks should dry out quickly and easily enough without becoming moldy. And you will enjoy 30 delightful minutes of winter peace.
