Schedule Your Computer to Shut Down at a Specific Time With This Windows App
Shutting down or restarting your computer from time to time is good. It can even fix minor performance issues by clearing out temporary files and freeing up memory – a classic troubleshooting method – but many of us neglect this simple maintenance step. It is much easier to put a desktop or laptop into sleep (or hibernation) mode than to shut it down completely.
If shutting down your Windows PC is another overlooked issue on your to-do list, try Adios , a simple Windows app from developer Dr. Bern Handel. It allows you to set and forget shutdown timers for your PC, which can make your life a lot easier.
How to use Adios
- Download and install Adios from this link .
- Open the program (it will start automatically after installation).
- Click the Shut Down tab.
- Select the action you want to enable, such as shutdown, restart, logout, hibernation, hibernation, etc., in the options on the left, and then use the arrow buttons to set the timer. You can set up timers so that they fire at a specific time, at a specific time of the day, or when the computer has been idle for a specific time.
- Your computer will automatically shutdown or enter the selected mode at the specified time.
In addition to the options under the Shut Down tab, Adios also has a Special Offers tab , which includes several other fun features:
- Set time limits on how long your computer can be used each day.
- Set application “wait” exceptions that prevent automatic timers from firing when certain applications are open to prevent you from losing your work.
- Set timers to wait for a specific download link to complete.
You will also find a shortcut to your PC’s startup folder in the Specials tab, where your PC stores applications that open every time you boot your PC. Finally, there is a Settings tab for configuring the application language and various display options.
You might ask if you really need an application like this when the shutdown and restart buttons for your system are easily accessible from the Windows Start menu, but give Adios a try – you may find it much easier to shut down your computer regularly when you’re not using it. We need to think about it.
