These Airlines Had the Fewest Scheduled Arrivals in 2019

If you’re flying Frontier or JetBlue in the near future, don’t be surprised if your flight doesn’t arrive on time. Cirium , the data collection agency that tracked over 5.6 million flights last year, ranked all North American airlines based on their on-time arrival. The report said Frontier and JetBlue were the worst airlines to get travelers to their destinations on time.

In 2019, only 74.4% of Frontier flights and 74.8% of JetBlue flights were successfully delivered on time. Delta and Alaska Airlines, meanwhile, ranked best, with 85.69% and 82.01% of all flights arriving at departure on time.

Cirium also looked at the timeliness of airlines around the world, with Delta ranking third (and the only US airline to take first place); Russian airline Aeroflot was the single most punctual airline in 2019, barely ahead of Delta and Air Nippon Airways, with 86.68 flights arriving on time.

However, there is another important factor: if a Delta flight is delayed, expect it to be very delayed. Although Delta has the best timeliness metrics, the average flight delay was 58 minutes, compared with just half an hour in Alaska. (JetBlue’s average delay was a whopping 75 minutes.) Airlines are known to cut flight times in the event of delays, so while Delta can get you to your destination on time, you may still experience some delay in departure.
